"King John's Castle on the Shannon River"
Course Description Finding
your ancestors in Ireland is often difficult if they arrived in the
United States before 1840 when the Potato Famine literally wiped out
1/3 of the population of Ireland by either slow starvation or through
immigration to other countries. This self-paced course is not only
designed to help you locate your ancestors in Ireland, but also to
familiarize you with the different records that available once you
locate your family within a particular county or 'shire.' You will
learn to read records and do research in them from the late 1800's all
the way back to the early 6th century and learn how the history of
Ireland and England, it's mother country for many centuries, affected
the people who inhabited it.
