Course Description
This course will help introduce you to the records and strategies that
can help you discover your Latin American ancestors. It teaches
temrinology and describes the contents, uses, and availability of major
genelaogical records.
Generally you must know the specific town in the country
where an ancestor was born, married, or died in order to do research on
that ancestor. We will also help you to discover how to find the name
of those towns from records in the US or elsewhere.
You will need a basic understanding of some genealogical
research procedures. You may want to read the booklet "Guide to
Research Guia Para Realizar La Investigacion Genealogical Guia de
Pesquisa" This is available at the Family History Library in SLC and
also at most Family History Libraries. You may also want to start with
the Beginning Genealogy Course

before trying to do research in the Hispanic country from which they
came.
