Diana Muir is a professional genealogist who became accredited by the LDS Church in 1975 while a student at Brigham Young University. Since then, she has married, raised a family, finished her doctorate in Education, but has never forgotten her love for genealogy. Born and raised in the Davenport, Scott County, Iowa area, her Thornton ancestors were some of the first pioneers to arrive in the newly opened Indian Territory. From there, they go through Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, and originate in Pennsylvania. Diana has completed many one-name searches including; Thornton, Lawrence, Hobert, Weems, Bailey, Proctor, and Morse. There are many different branches of Thorntons, including those who came from England in the 1600s, again in the 1700s, from Ireland, Canada, and even Australia.Each will be addressed in turn. Because there were 188 immigrants by the name of Thornton between 1600 and 1750, only the males with issue are addressed.
